Hello! This week’s GEORDIE was written by Ryoko Mori. I’m a 1st grade student.
On June 28, 29, I got workshop for freshmen under the auspices of The Citizenship.
The theme of this training is ‘ Grow a team which can turn thought into shape.~know your circle, yourself and your activity really ~ ’ We went to a youth hostel at Ryokuchikouen(in Osaka). There are four groups−CLUB GEORDIE, Kwanseigakuin Human Service Center, Osaka Kyouiku University Reunive , and Citizenship.
Through this experience, we learned how to keep teamwork higher, and considered why our activity need , why we began this activity and what we should do while we are student.
I think I have gained great benefit from this workshop because I could realize what I want to do, or what I should do when I talked with many different people and listened to their aims. This experience must raise my consciousness truly.
I want to put my experience to good use in the near future!

Hello!! This week’s GEORDIE was written by Yusuke Michimoto. I’m the 1st grade student.

We held “Refugee Event” in June 16th to 20th at Kwansei Gakuin Koube Sanda Campus. I took part in the project team of that event. I think refugee problem is just difficult to approach, but in this event, we wanted students to consider “Refugee problem as a very big problem for everyone!!!” We also wanted them to know that even students can join in this problem and attack it actually.

I participated in this project for the first time as a new GEORDIE staff, so everything was difficult for me. However, seniors taught me kindly. Also, they gave many times to talk my opinion(made me easy to tell my opinion many times) and it made me happy.

Through this event, many people could have understand and have been interested in Refugee problems. Planning event as very difficult , but it was a rewarding job for me.

I have not decided to participate in some project, but I want to make use of the experience of good points and bad points of this project to make better project.

Hello! This week’s GEORDIE was written by Saki Nakazawa. I’m a 1st grade student.

I took part in the project team of the event called “Why don’t you join the Arts and Crafts together? ~International cooperation through the Arts~” which was held on June 8th . In this event, we made the participants of various nationalities draw “peaceful world” on the big plain cloth with paints in order to have prompts to think about “peace”. On that day, all members of the groups thought about “peace” friendly and seriously, and wonderful arts were completed. We staff were impressed by feeling various thoughts for their arts.

I worried about if I could do because this event was my first event since I joined GEORDIE and there was no 1st grade student without me. However, my seniors taught me kindly and worked together, so I began to know the process of projecting. I still don’t understand well, but I try to do my best. Thank you!

The rainy season has started, so please be careful of your conditions. The part of this week is Kanayama who works for members of CLUB GEORDIE.

Today, I really feel that time has passed so quickly. Without any notice, I became the third grades. When I was first grade, I joined CLUB GEORDIE. Then, I really looked up to my seniors of the third grades at that time. However, today, I am on the same position. A lot of freshmen have joined CLUB GEORDIE, and my juniors are really well. Therefore, I will do my best as a senior.

“Why don’t you join the Arts and Crafts together? 〜International cooperation through the Arts〜” , an event I take charge of, will be held on June 8. This theme of CLUB GEORDIE is to do with all members. Until this event was admitted to be held, every member considered and discussed seriously. Therefore, this event has strong hearts of all members.

In this event, we separate all participants into some groups and make every group express “Peace” with Arts. Of course, there are many funny programs that you can get satisfied with, for example, to eat ethnic lunch with your group members, to complete our original “Peace Book” etc.

There is only a few time until the day! In fact, I’m really worried, so please give me your supports.

Hello!! This week’s GEORDIE was written by Mika Yano. I am a 1st grade student.

Now, I’m taking part in the project called “ Event For Refugees”. At the beginning, I had anxiety about how well I could manage this project since I didn’t know any of the colleagues well. However, while we were planning this project, I was able to get to know the various opinions from the other members, so I’m spending a very meaningful days. Thanks to that, I can get to know the member whom I barely knew. I’ll do my best to lead this project to the success as “Event For Refugees” is in the climax now.

Just 1month has passed since I started working in CLUB GEORDIE, I have made a lot of friends. All of senior staffs are very attractive. Above all, all of them are very kind. It is my pleasure to talk to them and we sometimes go home together.
Anyway, I will do my best in CLUB GEORDIE, thank you.

Hello everyone I’m Yusuke Murakami.

I joined One Day Trip of 2008 on may 17th. Precipitants were fresher of our university and foreign students Osaka or Kobe.

We did 45 us in all did international exchange. This exchange was not formal but casual.

For example, we made photo frame and hanged out together.
We also did walk rally and we could do good international exchange.

Thanks to these experiences I strongly felt that it’s easy to do international exchange.
Why don’t you do international exchange?

During the daytime, I could spend with the short sleeves.
I feel that it gradually come early summer.
This “weeklyG” wrote by Yuka Hanaoka. I belong to general department presents.
This time is the 100th “WeeklyG”! It is memorial things!!

Recently, many new members participate in a planning of event and they has active positively. Whenever I watch new members, I take stimulation.

GEORDIE does the IT training for all new members every year!
The IT training teaches the new members by way of management and to have joint of the information on the web site and how to use mailing list.

The new members become really GEORDIE members after the training!
The IT training starts at the end time of May.

GEORDIE would do our best with new GEORDIE members!

The spring seems be ending, and it continues to be hot day in these days.

This time, Ikuhiro Kamei belongs to General department presents.

GEORDIE held a welcome party for new faces on the 25th of last month.
Many new faces participated in this party, and we had a good time!
Some of them could not be in the room because of too much people were participated.

Moreover, many elder faces are surprised at new faces’ eagerness.
They are very active and we were overwhelmed.

We hope that new member will have good time in not only GEORDIE but also other campus life.

After this, GEORDIE is going to hold many events like; “One Day Trip”, “Shall we make arts with us?”, “Event for Refugees” and so on.

Hello! Nowadays, the strange weather is going on like although I feel warm, it will be raining… While the sky, please be careful not to get a cold!
Usually, I would be annoyed with this weather but I am so happy to come to school even though there was rainy The reason why is that I am really interested to meet new college students!!
This time, Nana Iwata from the general affairs department will present.
Today I will talk about the event of welcoming new students and it held twice.
First event took place in the cafeteria which is in our campus.
On that day, some EC teacher who was very busy to prepare for next classes came to talk to the first year student. I am really thankful to them.
The first year student looked really being satisfied with the event so much so that it was really nice party for them I believe♪

Second event of welcoming new student was held in the bar in Sannda.
It was also nice time to everybody! because, we could talk a lot with many freshers.

We start to gather the new stuffs during these months and we will do our best to making interesting events and so on.

Hello everyone. How was your spring vacation?
Spring is coming soon! These days it is getting warmer than before because we can see beautiful sunny days.
This week’s Geordie is written by Tsukabe, who had studied abroad for seven and a half months.
I came back to Japan about three months ago, so I ‘m very happy to join geordie’s activities again.
By the way, we gonna start spring semester soon and new students are coming in April. I’m looking forward to see them at a university.

Now some of our staffs prepare for ‘one-day trip to kobe’ which will be held in May.
Not only Japanese but also foreigners can join this event, to share pleasures of international communication.
In addition to this, we will provide many opportunities to participate in events such as international exchange or cooperation.

It is just the time we feel the change from cold winter and spring.
Graduation season is ending and new season is now coming. Spring is the time cherry trees start to blossom.
In my hometown, Osaka, city flower the cherry trees come out and I’m spoiling to hold a party under the cherry blossoms.
Hirotake Nishihara of the general affairs department takes charge of this week’s weekly GEORDIE.

Now, we CLUB GEORDIE finished planning business scheme for this year and started to effort toward coming new spring semester.
　 One of them is recruitment, plan to get freshmen who enter university this spring.
We make effort every day thinking about “how should we appeal CLUB GEORDIE for freshmen this year?,” “how should we get new staff?,” and “how can we make GEORDIE more attractive than other groups?.”
We want to make development adding new staff’s fresh and active energetic power. So I hope your heartly support from now on.
Though spring is coming, this time it is cold in morning or evening yet. Therefore take care of your health and meet good spring.

March has set in, and it’s getting warmer and warmer.
I’m very looking forward to coming spring. This week, Miyoko Matsuda presents “Weekly GEORDIE”.

In February 25th and 26th we CLUB GEORDIE took part in the training course to get skill of making good projects.
We made small groups, and each group presented own project, and we evaluated all projects with each other. We did our best to make better projects.
Not only CLUB GEORDIE staff but instructors and students in other organization advised us, and we could make new friends.
Thus, this training course gave us valuable experiences.

Through this training course, we CLUB GEORDIE determined what events we will hold in this year. We will improve our projects,
and make effort to give better events to you, so please look forward to our events♪

Moreover, in March 2nd we CLUB GEORDIE took part in Philippine Day at Fushimi, Kyoto.
This event aimed to enjoy exchange with Filipino and Japanese to realize living close together with various cultures.
We CLUB GEORDIE had planed the trade game with NPO ACCE, and did this game with participants on the day.
They seemed to be able to learn the present condition of world trade through this game.
Many families with children joined this event, so it was very fun!

Like this, we CLUB GEORDIE are very active in spring vacation, too!

Hello, everybody! It sometimes snows and very cold days have continued, then how are you?
Today, Eri Sugimoto takes charge of this week’s GEORDIE.

We have a development education activity in February. This time, I was a leader of this activity.
We created picture books and sugoroku about street children as new tools.
It was very difficult to think of sentences and rules from the beginning.
Finally, we could make handmade tools. I hope that children will enjoy it.

Now, we will make an effort to make development education activity better,
not only enjoying but thinking about international problems for children.

This week’s “Weekly GEORDIE” is written by Higuchi.

CLUB GEORDIE participated in ONE WORLD FESTIVAL on February 2 and 3 in Osaka.
Many people interested in GEORDIE’s activities, and then I think that many people know more GEORDIE’s activities.
I felt that we could get a lot of valuable chance from ONE WORLD FESTIVAL, because who belong to NGO and NPO, we can hear talk directly from people.
I and same GEORDIE’s staffs ate various countries’ethnic foods in lunch time. Then we could wear folk costume, for example Peru, Arab, Africa, Korea, so we could have very good experience.

It is still cold. Please be careful about your health.
In this week, Ikuhiro Kamei who is the 2nd grade in general department presents.

By the way, spring vacation has begun, and some GEORDIE staffs will go abroad for trip.
I want them to get rid of their stress of tests and I hope they will use their experiences which they get through the trips in the GEORDIE fields.

Now, GEORDIE staffs are going to decide the annual aim for this term.
There are many ideas, and we will decide them in next all meeting.
In 2008, we will try to achieve the annual aim, so please support us!

Recently, it snows a lot and very cold days have continued, then how is everyone?
Today, Misato Sawa takes charge of this week’s GEORDIE.

This time I introduce ONE WORLD FESTIVAL which is going to be held at international house, Osaka on February 2 and 3, and CLUB GEORDIE also takes part in this festival.
At this festival, many international cooperative and interchanging organizations based in Kansai and student groups like CLUB GEORDIE assemble.
They introduce their activities at each booth. Many other events are also held, for example, panel discussion we think about international problems and discus about them.
In addition, refreshment stands of the ethnic cooking are also opened, and we can enjoy various countries’ ethnic foods.

A lot of evens are hold, and we can surely enjoy through these events. So if you have a time, please come and join us!

Over one year has passed since I entered CLUB GEORDIE.
When I entered CLUB GEORDIE, I didn’t know what I should do, so I depended on senior staffs. However, now I am almost 3rd grade.
…I want to become a reliable senior for junior staffs…

Well, I’m looking forward to new GEORDIE staffs join us in this spring.
I remember that I felt the expectation and anxiety for I became senior staff last year.

Now, I will become the most senior staff.
Time passes very fast…

Now, we have many tests from tomorrow at KWANSEI GAKUIN University.
Staff members feel depressed.

However, GEORDIE staff’s activity will keep on☆
We have many projects, for example, One World Festival in February, Free paper “UNLIMITED”, and making project of this year, to get the new staff…
There are a lot of things to work!!!

We are going to do our best in this year, too!!

A happy new year!

2008 has come!!
The first “Weekly GEORDIE” in this year is presented by Ryo Suzuki who is a new a representative taken over from Takashi Hojyo

Well, I will talk you about the story when I went back to my home.
I found a notebook which I had never seen for many years from my closet.
This notebook was a comic about environmental problem, and it was my homework for summer vacation when I was an elementary school student.
I made that comic with my friends. In this comic, a boy who was an elementary student thinks about environmental problem thinking of his life.
I liked drawing pictures, but it was far from good one, and explanation of environmental problem was not correct, either.
However, I tried hard to draw that.

It takes 10 years.
At that time, our comic was made by 4 people, while now we have 41 staff in CLUB GEORDIE.
I get excited when I imagine what we can do in this year.

We can be active thanks to many people who support us.
And please looking forward that we CLUB GEORDIE will keep on challenging from now on!
